PAMPERS AND PEARLS: Burnt Orange

Happy Wednesday Lovies! It's Hump Day & time to get our muse on! Today's muse is my amazing custom dress from Piol. I had it made specifically with The Southern Blog Society 'Welcome Party' in mind. Tomorrow I will go into more detail about the events & brands in Charleston, but for today...it's all about what I wore that Friday night. Piol is a new company that custom makes the perfect dress to fit you! First you need to find you color aura. You will answer some questions about your skin tone & hair color to discover your personal palette - "four colors crafted by famed costume designer, Edith Head, to complement and brighten your natural coloring." Next you will select your silhouette: choose the dress style that shows off what you love most about your figure and simplifies the rest. There are some tips to determine the best dress for you shape if you're confused or unsure though. Step 3 has you choose your fabric. Browse through beautiful, fine quality fabrics specially designed for your coloring (think step #1, aura) to find the one that best suits you. Lastly, you can add some final personal touches. Add your choice of neckline, skirt, and sleeves. You'll then include some very specific measurements and in 3-4 weeks time you will receive your custom made dress.

How cool is that!? My dress is gorgeous! It is beautifully structured and made, and fully lined. It fit like a glove & I felt so chic and comfortable in it. As a mom I loved this process because it allowed me to create a dress that worked perfectly for me from home without going to the mall/department store, usually with an annoyed kid in tow. (*BTW, did you know Nordstrom offers free Wi-fi? Bring your phone or tablet for the little ones if you plan on being there for more than 10 mins ;-). Now here's the catch...the $. This dress of mine was in the high $500. (Insert terror face here!) I honestly couldn't believe it myself, however as I did some more research about why it cost so much I found out it's because 1) it's a custom dress, duh! 2) It's hand made and sewn. 3) The fabric is "legit" and imported from Italy. So i'm truly torn on whether it's "worth" it. BUT, If there has ever been a time when you needed a nice dress but couldn't find one that fit or was the right shape...then this is def the website/place for you!
