Five on Friday: Paperwhite

This week's Five on Friday was very fun for me to do.  My dear friend Emily just bought her first salon, Paperwhite, located in the Historic, artsy, and thriving Riverside area of Jacksonville.   I adore her and am so very proud of her, so without further ado here are my FIVE favorites things about Paperwhite Salon!

~ EMILY ~

Emily attended the Aveda Institute of Tallahassee and has been doing hair in the Jacksonville area for 8 years, but her love of hair didn't stop there! While continuing to work in a salon and build a clientele, she also attended Aveda Business College, Aveda Congress, and is now a certified Gold Key educator with KEVIN.MURPHY. She travels all over Florida making hair dreams come true, and is booked 3 - 6 months in advance for weddings.  Emily is the real deal when it comes to the hair industry!

~ THE DECOR ~

The salon feels like home! Need I say more? When you walk in you are welcomed by a new saying/quote emblazoned upon the cutest chalk board desk ever.  Every day is a "bright, bright sunshinin' Day" at Paperwhite...especially if I'm getting my roots fixed ;-).  Emily is always there to greet her clients with a smile, and her love for what she does is infectious! The walls are painted a mature silver and the "shabby chic" waiting area has matching grey cushions giving the entire room a "secure" feeling. And the Artwork..it's local! #supportlocal.  She sells art from/supports local artists, which is so amazing to me! I'm also especially fond of the turquoise accents though.  Not only do they add the appropriate amount of brightness to the room, but according to color psychology, turquoise creates emotional balance & stability.  This is probably why most people consider getting their hair done a minor form of therapy; just add a beer or a glass of wine (which Paperwhite always has chilled) and you are all set! 

BTW, check out the adorable bookshelf turned coffee station...chic & brilliant.  And are you surprised that the mugs match the decor? We're not..everything is perfect and we LOVE it!

~ THE FINAL PRODUCT ~

EVERY time I walk out of the salon I feel like a million bucks; like I could take on the world.  My hair always feels and looks so "fresh and so clean, clean."  Being "blonde" is very important to me...I don't want people mistaking me for Eminem's mom in 8-mile! That's what makes Paperwhite so great; every stylist makes you look and feel amazing, while you just get to sit there sipping on something cold in a comforting, inviting, and friendly atmosphere.  What could be better!?
