~ Happy Friday Lovies ~
How are you!? Ready for the weekend!? ME TOO!!! I haven't done a true Five on Friday (or any Friday post for that matter) in a really long time, so I'm excited to just share with you some 5 favorites from the week!
Joe and I have decided to do Paleo again for Lent. Per usual we are doing modified Paleo, NOT "Primal Paleo." What that means is we make certain exceptions on food that is "clean" but not necessarily Paleo. For example, wine instead of beer - haha. But in all honesty we have been doing a pretty good job this week. We started on Monday (since we were in Daytona last weekend) and I've already lost a pound in just 4 days...insane!!! The one thing I've always found difficult about Paleo is getting good/easy food suggestions that don't cost millions of dollar, include rare & extravagant ingredients, and/or take hours to make. So during Lent I will continue to update you on our menu from the week to make it easy for y'all in case you're interested. So here is what I ate for...
Breakfast:
* Hard-boiled egg
* fruit
Lunch:
* Salad w/ tomatoes, cucumber, onion, etc.. Dressing: olive oil & aged balsamic vinegar
* Sliced lunch meat (make sure there's no added hormones, nitrates or sodium. Trader Joe's has a great Uncured Ham). Can be eaten as a roll-up or added to a salad.
* Nuts
* Plantain chips (again not necessarily Paleo but the Trader Joe's ones have only three ingredients that are natural, so it's the perfect alternative if you need a "crunchy")
* Fruit
* Larabar (make sure it is a flavor without chocolate, added sugar, and any nut butter)
* Tuna Salad (Canned chunk albacore tuna mixed with an avocado, evoo & pea puree') over greens or on paleo bread (can usually be found at your local health foods store. Jax peeps, it's at Grassroots in the freezer section).

Dinner:
* Baked Chicken with Spinach & Artichokes (substitute butter with Ghee)
* Grilled Steak w/ "Wholly" Guacamole Topping
Snacks:
* Nuts
* Dried Fruit
* Larabar
* Apple or Banana w/ sunflower butter
* Fruit
* Paleo Granola
EASTER DECORATIONS
I just got my box of Spring goodies from The Dollar Tree (yes I am obsessed with all their goodies since that post on Halloween) and have been decorating the house like a mad person. Be sure to check back next Thursday for house photos & some Easter DIY. Until then I am on the hunt for an Easter themed spoon rest. Found any good ones? I like these from Kirklands but can't decide... What do you think?
plae |
I randomly found this new shoe company for kids and am OBSESSED! Have you heard of/seen Plae? These shoes are designed to Fit, Move & Do Good. They are engineered to follow the natural contour of a child's foot, leaving the cartilage and fledgling bone room to grow. There are interchangeable straps to accommodate thinner or thicket feet, AND the best part is they are machine-washable! I am 100% sold! The only bummer is that the sizing starts at size 8 and Wake is currently a size 6.5 - 7. BUT...You better believe he'll be wearing these as soon as he's an 8!
One of my favorite online boutiques, Sweettart Clothing, is having a $5 SALE! $5!! That's insane! If you don't check this sale out You. Are. Crazy! Granted, it's been going on for a few days so a lot of the items/sizes might be gone BUT there are still some great things left. I've put a hold on three things in particular myself ;-). Check them out below...
WAKE AND THE NEVERLAND PIRATES
copy of the invite from Etsy |
We are having Wake's Bday party this Saturday and the theme is "Wake and the Neverland Pirates." Cute right!? He loves the show Jake and the Neverland Pirates, and since we're having his party at a playground (that's wooden & looks like a ship) I thought it was a perfect theme. Now because he is still only 2 years old the party is really for our family & close friends to get together to eat cake on his behalf, BUT I'm still really excited about it for him. I found little pirate hats & eye patches at Target and Party City for favors, and Publix is doing a pull-apart Jake/Wake Cake.
Be sure to stop by on Monday for the "Pirate" edition of Moda Monday where you can see all of our outfits & fun from his party.
Have a great weekend everyone!!! XOXO
